Surviving the Summer Vacation in Singapore

The kids are on holiday as school is out. It can be quite chaotic having all three kids at home. They can be very boisterous when all of them are together. Sending the kids off to summer camp is not a norm here. Most classes that are for the kids are for a few hours and are either running for a single day or, the most, a week.

For my sanity and to keep the kids occupied we have been going on many different  mini adventures all around Singapore playing the role of the tourist. I have decided to bring them on excursions to different places all around Singapore so that they can get better acquainted with the history and places of interested in this island nation.  It would be fun as we will be seeing our country in a different light and angle and the kids could certainly learn more about Singapore.

During one of our adventures we went on the Hippo River Cruise boat ride. We took a  30 minute ride around Marina bay from the Singapore Flyer . The boat cruised down to the floating platform, past the Merlion, Marina Bay sands and back again to the jetty.

While going round the bay the kids were thrilled to be travelling by boat as we normally travelled by car. They also learned that travelling by boat was a common mode of transport for our ancestors who came down from China and other neighbouring countries.

Besides the adventure at Marina bay the kids will be taken to the Zoo, Singapore Science Centre and Sentosa.

How are you going to occupy your kids this Summer?
