If you have kids, you know they are great for making up stories to cover up for the little breaches of family law they commit.
“The lamp got broked when a monster came outta the closet and bumped into it when I chased it with my baseball bat and that’s how the lamp got broked. And Nancy took an ice cream bar without asking.”
That’s the sort of thing that comes to mind when one reviews former RNC Chairman and Romney campaigner Ed Gillespie’s remarks on CNN’s “State of the Union” show Sunday morning (July 15). (He repeated the comment on Meet the Press!)
According to The Hill:
“We now know this president will say or do anything to keep the highest office in the land, even if it demeans the highest office in the land,” Gillespie said…
Gillespie looked at the tips of his PF Flyers and stuttered…
(ACTUAL QUOTE) “There may have been a thought at the time that it could be part-time, but it was not part-time,” Gillespie said.
“He took a leave of absence and in fact he ended up not going back at all, and retired retroactively to 1999 as a result,” he added. “He left a life he loved to go to Salt Lake City and help a country he loves more, and somehow Chicago… is trying to make it something sinister.”
“Eddie,” the exasperated father says. “You’re going to have to do better than that. Now, up to your room, and no TV or video games until you’re ready to tell the truth.”
“But Dad! Obama…”
“Ah, ah, ah! None of this is Obama’s fault. Get to your room.”
“NOT FAIR,” young Eddie says as he stomps up the stairs and slams his bedroom door shut.
