New Jersey Pushing for Undocumented Residents to Get Driver’s Licenses

A bill introduced recently into the New Jersey legislature by Assemblywoman Annette Quijano (D-Union) would allow undocumented residents in the state to obtain a valid driving privilege card similar in form and function to a regular state driver’s license.

Driving Privileges for the Undocumented

The controversial bill, sponsored by three other lawmakers from the New Jersey Assembly and Senate, is targeted specifically at those who cannot show proof of lawful residence in the U.S.… [Read more]

Chris Christie: Mr. GOP Establishment, 2016?

David Corn, the prescient pundit at Mother Jones has dubbed New Jersey Governor Chris Christie as the “GOP Establishment Candidate for 2016.” We love Mr. Corn and have no reason to doubt his instincts. And, yes. If the Republican Party has any hope of winning the White House in a battle against Hillary Clinton in three years, Gov.… [Read more]

Oldest Serving U.S. Senator, Frank Lautenberg, Passed Away

Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) passed away earlier today. At age 89, the five-term senator who had decided to not seek re-election at the end of his term, was the oldest official in the United States Senate and the last of the World War II “Greatest Generation” serving in the Senate.

Some of the more recent items on Lautenberg’s agenda included helping to secure federal aid for New Jersey’s Hurricane Sandy victims and various environmental, infrastructure and economic development projects for his state but Lautenberg was known as a very liberal Democrat who helped usher in broad legislation for health care and gun safety reforms.… [Read more]

Minimum Wage

Recently, Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey vetoed a bill that would raise the minimum wage from $7.25 to $8.50 an hour. The Governor said he wants the minimum wage to increase in three stages such that it would bring the rate to $8.00 an hour in three years.

It is understandable how the Governor came to veto the bill; Christie and other politicians are so out of touch with the reality of living on minimum wage that they just don’t get it.… [Read more]

Chris Christie Gives Congress a Piece of His Mind.

New Jersey’s Republican Governor, Chris Christie, is angry. But that’s nothing new. Governor Christie has often expressed his anger at President Obama and Democrats.

But, now, since Hurricane Sandy devastated coastal areas of New Jersey at the end of this past October, Governor Christie has been angry at House Speaker John Boehner and, as he puts it, the majority party in the House of Representatives.… [Read more]

Racist Road Rage

On the way home from errands in the old home turf of Morristown, NJ, Barbara and Jeffrey were tooling along on I-287 in NJ, just South of the New York Thruway, when they found themselves behind an old, dilapidated pick-up truck with Tennessee plates, plastered with anti-Obama, anti-Tax, anti-IRS, and, in general, anti-thinking bumper stickers.… [Read more]

What Will The Donald Do?

It has long been rumored that Donald Trump had been extremely busy behind the scenes promoting the person he respects most in this world to be the keynote speaker at the Republican National Convention, which begins in Tampa in just over a week.

But, no, he was passed over in favor of another over-ripe dough ball, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.… [Read more]

Could THIS Be Our Next Vice President?

New Jersey’s Governor Chris Christie receives more than his share of attention. Some of it is due to his blunt and hard-driving style, and some is due to being a prospective GOP nominee for Vice President of the U.S. as Mitt Romney‘s running mate.

Ummm…OK. Sure…Maybe in a few years after he’s read a copy of  How to Win Friends and Influence People — because, as of now, all he does is continue to alienate many people with his perpetually boorish (remember this?) bully behaviour.… [Read more]

He Said NO!

So…it seems the big headline of the day is that New Jersey’s governor, Chris Christie, has stated AGAIN that he is not going to broaden the pool of current GOP candidates by running for President.

DUH!!!

What is it with the mainstream media in this country ok, I KNOW that there are too many things to list![Read more]

A Hungry Mob Is An Angry Mob*

Them belly full but we hungry… A hungry mob is an angry mob

~  *Bob Marley, ‘Them Belly Full’

Powerful words – and they’re something that those at the top of the socio-political pyramid should think about.  Personally, I am waiting for the day when those who don’t have ‘a full belly’, i.e., the poor and ever-declining middle-class, finally become truly angry.  … [Read more]
