Terror in Tiny Town

The human rights maestro

You can always count on Canada to provide black comedic relief when it comes to how terrorist threats ought to be blunted. We – unerringly – take an American legislative excess and give that delightful, north of the 49th insouciance to make it our own. Remember ‘extraordinary rendition’ in the wake of 9/11, a dark Rumsfledian Star Chamber vision administered by charming Syrian prison officials?… [Read more]

Intelligence and the Pursuit of Justice

In the aftermath of the recent Boston Marathon bombing, Republicans now complain  why we “ignored” warnings from Russian intelligence about the alleged culprits. How times change. Just as the Reagan Administration cozied up with the Taliban as “freedom fighters” as long as they were killing Russians, offshoots such as al Queda went from “partisans” to pariahs when the sponsored attack dogs started biting the hands that fed them.… [Read more]

We are Boston

Even those of us who are ‘all news, all the time’ types reach a point of overload. Yesterday’s events at the Boston Marathon finish line which two bombs resulted in the death of three people, including an eight-year-old child, and countless injuries to approximately 154 people have brought together the mixed feelings of sadness, fear, anger and even exhaustion.… [Read more]

Paradise Found: Insight on Israel Today

Israel has always been a big question mark for me. My understanding was that it is a sacred land with a profound history and about three hundred perfect beach days a year. Candles burn for seven days past their expiration date here, and Christians, Muslims, and Jews alike have a founded history in Jerusalem.… [Read more]

Heeeeeeeere’s Omar!!!!

Cue that long gone ‘Tonight Show’ orchestra live from Burbank, and avuncular Ed McMahon chuckling off camera. Doc Severinsen on the trumpet, the band riffing on its signature theme, and through the curtains plunges a guest host with his own style and swing – Omar Khadr, rock star status jihadist just released from Gitmo…. and the crowd goes wild!… [Read more]

Thoughtcrime – Future Pandemic?

Some have seen Minority Report, the film based on a Philip K. Dick science fiction short story centered around a protagonist of the future crime division in charge of apprehending criminals. The twist is that said criminals have yet to commit the crimes. Some have no clue of what they are about to do yet, under the authority in the future setting of this story, it is entirely legal to be arrested prior to committing a crime.… [Read more]

Domestic Terrorist Massacre

In less than a month removed from the Aurora Colorado shooting, America was attacked by a domestic terrorist named Wade Michael Page. The self-appointed executioner killed six innocent people who were worshiping peacefully in their Wisconsin Sikh Temple, and wounded numerous others, including the first police officer on the scene. Page was a drunken looser to the nth degree, drummed out the military for numerous offenses, mostly for being the base drunk and an incompetent worker.… [Read more]

Who Gets to Judge?

I was having a conversation with a friend of mine regarding the recent assassination of Palestinian Popular Resistance Committee leader Zuhir al-Qaisi by the Israeli Defense Force (IDF)  which led to a week long exchange of attacks.  The “preemptive” strike by the IDF fueled an unprecedented number of rockets fired into Israel from Gaza forcing schools throughout Israel’s southern region to close.… [Read more]

Jihad. Mixed Messages. Regret.

Last month, a story broke that nearly 1,500 NYPD officers were shown a documentary during anti-terrorism training called “The Third Jihad“.  This revelation has created much controversy and goes to show that if you lead a horse to water, it just might drink that bright, red Kool Aid instead.

One media giant, apparently stunned and hungry for verbal bitch-slapping, published two articles, an op-ed, and an editorial in the past month claiming the film had “anti-Islam” themes and was inappropriate to show NYPD officers.… [Read more]
