In Case Of Emergency — Break Glass.

Following the tragedy at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, Wayne LaPierre, speaking officially for the National Rifle Association, blamed the massacre on anything and everything but the insane proliferation of guns in the USA, today.

In Case of Emergency — Break Glass

The NRA’s “meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again” turn out to be blaming the current wave of mass killings and interpersonal gun violence on movies, video games and (hold on to your hats) gun-free zones such as public schools. LaPierre’s advice is for the United States government to hire enough federal policemen to place a well-armed officer in each and every public school in the nation by the start of the Spring semester. He went on to suggest security measures and even bulletproof school design and completely ignored the obvious fact that, in the absence of easily obtained assault weapons and ammunition, mass killings such as Adam Lanza’s would have been impossible.

But, of course, the obvious goal of the NRA in recent times has been as a gun industry shill — and they will fight anything which might have an impact upon gun sales. If anyone doubts this, take a look at the leaked but never published NRA graphic novel from 2006…
