Praying for the Death of the President

To threaten the life of The President of the United States is a federal offense. To do so would be considered treasonous only in extreme cases but, at the very least, it’s a Class D Felony. And Michael O’Neal — the current Speaker of the Kansas State House of Representatives — has threatened President Obama’s life – not in deed but in word.

Mike O'Neal, the Speaker of the Kansas House of Representatives, is praying for the death of The President.

As it was with the “Reverend” Wiley Drake before him, and after referring to the First Lady last year as “Mrs. YoMama,” Speaker O’Neal has been sending an e-mail to his fellow Republicans asking them to pray for the death of President Obama using the text of the Old Testament’s Psalm 109, a nasty bit of verse which calls upon God to take the life of the target and permanently to degrade his family.

Frankly, we don’t think that such prayers or, for that matter, any prayers could find the ear of God for, as Atheists, we don’t believe in God. Speaker O’Neal clearly does – and we are convinced that his use of this prayer and urging that his similarly misbegotten peers pray with him for the President’s death violates Title 18, Section 871 of the federal code of law. Perhaps no action will ever be taken against Mr. O’Neal because people are generally allowed to express any reprehensible thought that crosses their minds but in our eyes, at least, this is an act of pure treason.
