A Kiss is Just a Kiss

The Academy Awards were just a week ago so, before everyone moves on (well, most of us have already moved on), let’s talk about kissing.

We don’t mean just kissing, but kissing someone special — someone named Oscar™. Lots of people kiss their Oscar™. This year, much was made of the fact that Anne Hathaway kissed her Oscar™ for Best Supporting Actress, Ang Lee kissed his Oscar™ for Best Director, George Clooney’s girlfriend, Stacy Keibler, kissed his Oscar™ for Best Picture, and so on. And much merriment was made over the fact that doing this sort of thing is not exactly hygienic.

But did you know that Jane Wyman kissed her Oscar™ for Best Actress in 1949, the year that she divorced the still liberal Ronald Reagan?  Was it jealousy of Oscar which broke them up?  History says, “no,” but we have our own theory…
