Last night I was talking with someone who has an active mind that I very much respect. I always enjoy our discussions whether about politics, sports or women. Politically we are polar opposites, but we share passions and, at the end of the day, we share many concerns. This was not an angry or contentious discussion by any means but, toward the end, I realized, perhaps for the first time, that our views of the state of America are as opposed as our solutions.… [Read more]
I’ve been thinking about evangelicals. They are a strong political force within the conservative movement and while I have no problem with the expression of deep faith, I am always a little confused by the contradiction between their pageantry and Matthew 6:1: “Take heed that ye give not your alms before men, to be seen of them.”… [Read more]
I saw a poll among voters who consider President Obama to be the worst president in post-FDR history. They ranked President Reagan as the greatest. It isn’t hard to dismiss this sort of faux-information as shallow, given the fact that Duck Dynasty and the Bachelorette continue to get high ratings, but I must admit that a wave of dark energy coursed through my veins.… [Read more]

The other day someone said to me, “I’m becoming a Libertarian. I’m tired of big government in my paycheck!” I understood where he was coming from. I wrote a check to Uncle Sam and, ouch! I don’t enjoy taxes, either. I have to admit, though, that I also don’t enjoy paying the cable bill; but it’s something I accept for getting the service.… [Read more]

Quickly explained, “neutrality” is what has governed the Internet and that means basically–nothing. Internet content, and accessibility to it, has been on a neutral plane with no guardian at the gate determining what goes through and what doesn’t.… [Read more]
This morning I heard 3 commercials for 3 different Republican candidates and they all said a variation of the same thing: “I will protect your freedoms from the encroachment of growing government.”
Great line. Who wouldn’t want that? It resonates and there is a lot of evidence of that “growing government” by which to give the statement credibility.… [Read more]
