Awkward People Unite!!

I believe in talent – and I believe that truly creative talent fills a need.  In some cases it satisfies our need for humour and, for some of us, that humour helps us learn about ourselves.

Today’s post is an interview with Ms. Issa Rae, (pronounced “EE-sa  Ray”)  the unique and talented writer, director, producer and star of the web-series “The Misadventures of AWKWARD Black Girl”  (ABG). [Read more]

Are We Broke?

A friend asked me if I believe it when I hear people say “America is broke“.  Like anyone who has ever planned or read a budget, I know that numbers are data — but that data means something only when it is translated into information that tells a story…so, with hard and cold numbers, is it possible that the answer to the question as to whether or not America is broke can be both ‘yes’ and ‘no’?  [Read more]

Is Anything ‘In The Bag’?

‘It’s in the bag’ is an old expression that means ‘with all due certainty’ or ‘as secure as being in one’s possession’.  That’s an expression that no political party should use when it comes to feeling sure that any vote cast is going to be in their favour.

All Of These Distractions…

We live in an age of short attention spans.  That has amounted to good news for people like Rudy Giuliani, former Mayor of New York, whose brash rudeness and displays of contempt were forgotten once the events of 9/11 took place.  Short memories and limited recall have worked wonders for elected officials such as David Vitter, Newt Gingrich, Elliot Spitzer and others who have managed to carve out very lucrative careers after finding their names in the news next to the word ‘scandal’.… [Read more]

Weiner Is A Wanker…But He Shouldn’t Quit

How’s that for getting straight to the point?  *An alternative title was “Weiner Is A Dick” — but that would have been too easy.*

Congressman Anthony Weiner (D – NY) has finally admitted to tweeting a ‘lewd’ picture of himself to a college student.  He gave the usual press conference (‘I’m human’…blah, blah, blah…It was destructive…yada yada yada…I accept responsibility…yeah yeah yeah).  … [Read more]
